Yessss!
Okay, I vote go to LA again IF he sends her roundtrip tickets asap and gets her a hotel room (just in case!). She needs some sort of security while she's there. He's still in the dog house.
Harry is a little too....much. "Hun"? No. That's a warning sign. 4 dates and they aren't official? Yeah, that's a warning sign.
On a side note, I'm peeved with Michael for his "Anything else and I'm sure I'll just put my foot in my mouth." Eff that. If they are going to be friends, the honesty and forthcomingness needs to come from both sides. He already put his foot in his mouth....saying nothing just leaves it stuck in there. And I don't know about his preferences in this story, but I don't think many people enjoy the taste of foot. Unless their cannibals or have pica or something.....
Author's Response:
LOL Poor Michael's trying the best he can here, I think. One of these days his head'll come out of his ass.
thanks for the review! hopefully there'll be another update tonight! (although now that i've said that i've jinxed myself.)

Awesome, awesome chapter! He made a huge mistake, but I think he's being sincere, and given his history, it's understandable that something triggered his freak-out and I think she'll come to understand that when she gets to know him better. I've been thinking about the last chapter and the mystery woman who broke his heart. Is it Diana Ross? Lol don't answer that. Just musing my thoughts to you.

should she forgive him? idk he seems out of touch with reality and might hurt her again buuuuut he is michael jackson lol and at least he payed her back tho. in this situation i would probably run right back to him ._.

Great chapter! You update so quickly -- makes me happy :D It seems like Michael is trying. And, I don't think he would have told her about the abuse if he really didn't feel bad about what he did. The sketch with the caption is so cute, haha. And, yaaay, he paid her back!! Y'know, didn't "We Are the World" come out in 1985? I think it did.
Author's Response:
Yes it did :) March 7th to be exact! I wonder how that's gonna factor into the story ;) ;)
thanks for for the review!!

No problem at all! ^^ I'm glad I could help make the writing process easier. Haha, I'd want to get to the Mike parts faster too if I was the writer, so I completely understand. It's great that you take the time to flesh out all your characters. And, lol!! I saw that Steven Perry thing! Her potential prom date's parents must have really liked Steve Perry from Journey, xD. I find it hilarious how it was almost Steven Tyler. Aerosmith is my favorite band! I would have been like, "Omg!!"
Author's Response:
I legit didn't even make the connection.... Perry was just the first name to come to my mind after Tyler and I didn't even think twice ! Aha hahahah.
Date: Nov 09, 2014 10:01 pm Title: Prologue
Oh, I'm fairly sure she was worried about his sexuality. Several comments have been credited to her, which suggest that.
Steven Perry = We Are The World lol. Since they've met, maybe he can give MJ a few tips? Crazy awesome singer and super nice guy. Julia sure gets her pic of the heart throbs. And Steven Tyler? Jeezus. I'm guessing your next pic would have been Jon Bon Jovi or Bruce Springsteen?
Author's Response:
I can't find what I was thinking of about that whole thing, so I'm just gonna chalk it up to my own craziness ;) ;)

Date: Nov 09, 2014 09:51 pm Title: Chapter 12: Research
Well... that's progress. I'm so glad he finally paid her back the money he costed her! And, I can tell he's trying by giving her the journal with the drawing. That was pretty cute. He still has a bit of a way to go, though, before I can see him completely earning Julia's forgiveness. Lol, and I think Janelle might be even madder at him than Julia is! Haha, that's what friends are for. I wonder what role Henry will play later on.
The psychologists seeing him at the hospital after he got burned actually seems really believable. You worked that into the storyline very well. And, seeing as Michael was interested in psychology, I can totally see him reading the DSM as something he would do. He might have also been motivated by a desire to see if anything explained his feelings. I know many people self-diagnose depression.
Another awesome chapter! :)
Author's Response:
Thanks for this great review! You guys really helped out last night and it made this chapter a lot easier to write, that's for sure!
Harry's definitely vital to the plot ;) Although I keep finding myself wanting to get to the Mike parts that I don't do him enough justice...I promise he'll become more of a 3D character in the forthcoming chapters!

The Psychopathology of Everyday Life <-- I LOL'd
Wut?! The DSM is an acronym all folks should (not) know ;)
Steven Perry as in Journey, Steven Perry?
Joking aside, I really like how you had her hit the library and confront Michael. I'd be surprised if his mother encouraged therapy (as the family always had an unofficial preference for avoidance of issues)...maybe from someone in the Church? Either way, I could totally see him going through the text. He was fairly interested in psychology, Freud, and Jung.
I like his feeler about that night. I'd have been all over his ass, trying to get details on what he remembered. She's gotta be starting to figure out that something happened to trigger his (major) overreaction.
Yesss - he paid her back!
Thx for another great chapter
Author's Response:
I'm actually crying from laughter at the moment because the first version had the homecoming date named Steven Tyler until I realized that that was an unacceptable choice...what is it with me and rockstars? bahahahahahha. def not changing it. let's pretend julia just gets really lucky with the stars.
about the gay/mother thing, i vaaaaguely remembered reading an anecdote about it, which is why i put it in. maybe im just crazy though. let's see if google can help me out...
thanks for reading!!

Hahahaha, now i'm laughing out loud. Lolololol... Out of all years not to include, 1985?! The one in the story you're currently on! That's just priceless.
Date: Nov 08, 2014 08:47 pm Title: Prologue
WHAT. WHY THE HELL IS 1985 JUST NOT INCLUDED ON THIS MASSIVE TIMELINE??!? hahahahahahahahahhaha. It'll be nice for stuff before the current setting of the story though!

i've been a silent reader, and now i basically just created an account to favorite this and review, lol. Wonderful, wonderful story. i love Julia and like how she actually has a life independent of her relationship with Michael. i really like what you've done with this chapter and the last few ones especially. I found something that might help you out with the timeline of this story.
mjjtimeline.blogspot.com
Author's Response:
I'm literally laughing out loud right now. This timeline is one of those things in this fandom that, helpful and informative as it is, makes me go "WAT." bahahahahha. props to whoever created it, and extra thanks to you to bringing it to my attention! it'll definitely come in useful!!
i'm so glad you like the story right now!! please continue reading!! <3
Date: Nov 08, 2014 08:09 pm Title: Prologue
I completely agree with everything wonderfulmistake and Redone have said. Flawed people are people, and they are lovely. Something in the first link that wonderfulmistake posted popped out at me:
MJ: "And then I deal with this anorexia thing..."
"Joseph used to beat us all the time and... (inaudible) dance.. would... He would, he would just... get to me. And I bought into that, he was like, 'Oh, you put on a few pounds.' The only thing I could control in my life, what with Motown... 'cause they tell you - in the interviews when we used to go on Carson or Mike Douglas or whatever back then, when we used to do interviews as the Jackson Five, you know when you're in this kind of business they kinda like... okay, girl... 'Do you have a girlfriend? 'No' Do this... You know got, it's like, they dictate to you everything. What you wear, what you sing. 'Cause back then we weren't allowed to sing our own stuff and do our own stuff. They dictate to you what you can wear... The only control I had over my life was eating. I had no control. We had no control. *clears throat* I didn't, I didn't... I wasn't like my brothers. People, they're angry and they take it out on others. I was angry and hurt, and I took it out on myself. And being brought up with Joseph and stuff like that... when we were rehearsing on 2300 - where we used to live. It's like, if I danced wrong, if I sang the wrong note, I'd get the hell beat out of me, I'd get thrown in the basement. So instead of taking it out on other people, I withdrew and I'd take it out on myself. There was nothing I could control in my life but my eating. And Joseph told me, "Oh, you're... oh you have such a big nose."
The fact that Michael refers to his eating issues as anorexia and the fact that he demonstrates so much self-awareness over it tell me he was probably diagnosed with it at some point. Just speculation, of course. It just popped out at me because I didn't know that Joseph belittled him over his weight, too, and the self-awareness he demonstrated over why he restricted his eating amazed me. People with anorexia are often in denial over why what they're doing is harmful to their bodies. Of course, given the last link wonderfulmistake posted, it did seem as if he went through denial, too. I always thought he exhibited disorded eating because of some of his comments and my own struggles, but now there's more credence to my theory.
Man, this chapter of yours sure has sparked some discussion ;) Just keep doing what you're doing and make sure that you're still having fun while writing. As I've already mentioned and can't stress enough, I like what you're doing with the story, and I'm sure that whichever direction you're heading in, it'll still be great.
Author's Response:
Very, very good points...i've read several instances of MJ referring to anorexia by name and everytime it shocks me (not that it's not believable, unfortunately, but just that he was, in comparison to other parts of his life, fairly open about it.)
It'll definitely be brought up little by little throughout the story as will him taking painkillers ---which I just want to say now, since it's been recently introduced into the story, is NOT going to be an addiction storyline, at least not for a long time. Obv painkillers as strong as what he was taking can affect someone's personality and behavior, but it's not like he was addicted from Day 1 (another pet peeve of mine in the FF world, ha!)
Okay..so. We've got the vitilgo, abuse, lupus, anorexia, the burn...is there any other major thing like that that I'm forgetting?
