I guess Raia made a good point: Probably noone (in Malania´s family) is really able to understand what Malania suffered. She´s deeply scarred. I did not realize until this chapter that she also was in fear of her life during the attacks...

I knew something would go down with Michael and Kaito going out. It was inevitable given he was hurting.
I trust what Mal says about Anica. She's vying for some sort of control that I don't agree with wether or not it's coming from a malicious place. She's not Mals mother. She failed to be supportive and was very dismissive of her trauma while it was happening. If it's guilt or whatever driving her concern it's not valid in my book. That's not enough. She has to at least genuinely care for Mal. I think Kaito is her best bet. He's accepted his role in this whole ordeal. No one else has.
Mal also has to understand that her feelings are valid and in turn so are everyone else's It's a two way street. It's infuriating but she has to see other's feelings don't invalidate her own. Vise Versa for everyone else too.
