And, like many other fans out there, I also wish that Michael had chosen to stay in Ireland rather than go back to the United States. For one thing, Ireland would've been peaceful and healthy for him and his children. And in Ireland, he could watch his friend Michael Flatley, the Lord of the Dance, move very gracefully across the stage, listen to some Irish music, and also hear stories about leprechauns and fairies from the people there, too.

Awesome... :) I like this chapter, especially these parts:

“You are taking the tale of the prodigal son too literally”, he sneered at me.

“I am not a prodigal son. I am just a woman who has lost her mother and has returned to her rightful family. I am here to remind you that, although you frightened my mother and paid her off to keep her away, you cannot do the same to me. My mother lived a life of sadness, of pain. She was unhappy and lonely. Now she is no more. And I want you to know, uncle Fenderigo, that I am back here to see some justice done to her memory.”

He took a step back, looked at me and especially at my now visible pregnancy.

“So, like mother, like daughter. Unmarried and pregnant. The bad seed shows in you.”

“We are not living in the Middle Ages anymore, uncle. You have no business to talk about my pregnancy and to insult my mother’s memory.”

“Alright, alright….How much do you want? 5,000 Euros, 10,000? I know you are not here for the love of family ties…”

“I am here to stay, uncle. I am here to receive my rightful inheritance, as the law states. This means half of everything grandfather Juan left. I have the impression that it is much, much more than just 10,000 Euros.”

“Tu eres loca???? Do you think that you can just show up here, where no one has ever seen you in over 20 years, and claim half of my father’s estate??? Of the Sanchez Olive Oil company????”

“Uncle Federigo, if you want a short answer, here it is: yes. I want justice for my mother. I will be here, in this house, in your company as equal partner, and remind you every day that you had a sister and you conveniently accepted to cast her aside and to forget about her existence. But I will not let you do it anymore. On my mother’s grave I swear to you that if you try to do to me what you and grandfather did to her, I will cause the biggest scandal ever. I will go to the press and tell my mother’s story. I will show you and grandfather Juan for the heartless monsters you are!”

I stopped to catch my breath and I realize that my words had a deep effect on the man in front of me. He believes me. He is actually frightened by the perspective of scandal. Of course, I was bluffing. I would never expose my mother’s misery to those disgusting newspapers.

I nodded, as my mind worked furiously. An idea was growing inside me, and pieces of it added to it. Greed can do so much evil…it can lead people to prevent others from finding their daughter…or their fiancée….

I for one am glad Amanda stood up to her uncle the way she did; I could also see her mother and Michael listening while smiling at each other, and then nodding in approval at the speech Amanda made, too. :)

Ooh, now this is very intriguing... I like it.. :) And I can imagine Michael reading about Al Capone, the gangster of Chicago, too.
