When Meili finds herself lost in the huge city which is New York, she hoplessly wanders around in search of finding someone who can tell her where she is. Doing so, she quickly finds herself caught as the main attraction on a busy set, where she meets a kind and loving person willing to help her adjust to life in America.
When all is said and done, she decides she wants to know the answers to her unsolved questions. Why is she here in the first place, and who is responsible for taking her away from her home?
Her and Michael then set out on an adventure to discover Meili's secret past, and to uncover the mystery of what changed her life forever.

I was inspired to write this story from a book I read about a Korean War orphan, although her story is very different and much more tragic.
Also, I decided to use China as Meili's home land, because that's the only other foreign language I know.
And I'd just like to let you guys know that I'm not saying that China is a poor country that doesn't know much about the rest of the world or anything like that. But in the book I read, this girl from Korea lived in a very small villiage and she didn't know anything about what like anywhere else until one day she was brought to America, and very confused by everything. It's not common for people to be this unaware of modern day society, but it does happen in some areas of the world.
