I can't say it enough, how much of a good man Trai is. Not many brothers would stick around, but then again they are just "friends." For how long though?
IDK why but I feel like MJ probably has someone watching Dee. Not because he thinks she's found someone else, but because he misses her ya know and she's carrying his child. If that's the case, what if they saw Trai?!

I like Trai even more now. He's a real stand up dude. Most would throw all thought out the window to get their rocks off but he didn't and the respect I have for him is like 100.
As for the convo with him it was for me like baking the most beautiful cake but instead of sugar you add salt purposefully. It still looks pretty on the outside but it would be pretty hard to swallow. I'm not sure if he believes her all the way.
Dee wanting to sleep with him well she just became Michael. While she cares for him, trying to use him as a sex toy was bad decision making at its finest. That's why I feel Trai should never get with her because honestly he's in this deeper than she is. His declaration makes me super sad. Truth is Dee could lie to herself all she wants but she's cemented to Michael. She's still very much in love with that man so kudos for Trai looking out for his own feelings here. Dee's being careless and thoughtless. Very much a Michael move. What would be even worse is if she invited him over soley to fuck because she thinks he's eager to please her.<------ Michael 100%
I don't want Trai to be completion. I don't want him in this race at all. He will a second fiddle fall back and he doesn't deserve that at all. If he wants to remain her friend, fine. She doesn't deserve him at this point tbqh. Sorry Dee.

Yes! Dee was telling partial truths to make her look good. And I'm not sure Trai fully believed her. I mean she sweetened it up alot. He probably would've reacted differently if she said she was a mistress. But Dee really wants to keep Trai around.
Yooo that comparison to Michael and Dee both using people for their benefit. And poor Trai he is definitely in deep and I hope he can get out in time before he gets hurt. Dee obviously was lying about being over Michael. Not to mentioned they will always be apart of each other 's lives cause of the baby.
Id like to think Dee's hormones just got the best of her because this was definitely a low point for her.
Trai should bow out of this race, he's only going to get hurt in the end.

Dee needs to suck it up and DEAL. This is what separates girls from women. No it won't be easy but that's life. It was all fun and games when she was riding dick and getting knocked up, so now she needs to deal with the consequences. That flashback and how she is right now is the result of her becoming dependent on Michael, a married man who has never been committed to her. And girl, I know you will drag her with whatever strands of hair she got left! lmfao. And yes the flashback definitely shows how dependent she was on him. He basically ran her life in a way. She was only happy with him, depressed the other times. She did anything to be with him, which ultimately lost her her job which is her own fault.
And yes, this is truly a test for her. to get her shit right. I'm not quite sure she's ready either but that's life. She chose to keep the baby so now she has to raise it.

Yes, Dee really wants Michael to prove that he truly wants to be with her. Lately, it's been seeming like the opposite with him basically confessing that he's in love with his wife. And right? I think since Dee's still young, she wants her own chance to be successful, you might remember that comment she made about Michael and his own success at her age. Which is really incomparable..
But we shall see if she changes her tune once shit starts getting real and she realizes she can't make it alone.
He does love her and I agree they're on two different mindsets. They need to get their lives in order to make it together.

I think Dee is weak when it comes to Michael. All he has to do is bat his eyelashes and she'll come running so I know she'll end up with him again. Like she said, if it wasn't for the baby, she'd still be sleeping with him...which kind of concerns me. Is the only reason she's pushing Michael away because of the child? That's kind of ass backwards in a sense. I mean, wouldn't you want the baby's father in it's life? Had she not gotten pregnant would she still be ducking and dodging into hotel rooms just to please him? Dee is naive in a lot of ways and honestly, I don't think she knows what she wants. When she wasn't pregnant, she kept sleeping with him and complained about him still being married. Now that she is pregnant and he says he wants to get a divorce (we'll see) and be with her and the baby, she says it's over between them. I can get where she's coming from in a way, but at the same time, even i'm confused. Michael can not win in this situation. This is too much for her to handle alone and while she's trying to be mother goose by herself, she doesn't have the means to do it. I don't think she's thought this one through, but we'll see what eventually happens.

Man Kay, everything you've mentioned is spot on! I think she's trying to act tough and focus on the road ahead, but no doubt she'll have a moment of weakness and go back to him. Which I think Michael is banking on cause we know he ain't letting go that quick and he already made an attempt to call her place.
I honestly think she's stuck between her heart and her head. Her heads telling her to focus purely on the baby and all the stuff she has to do and forget about Michael. Her heart...well know already know she's in love with him. She's also scared to get hurt again. Michael's got to do alot to earn her trust. I also think that by having Michael out of the picture ( well her love life) she can think clearly. We can see in the flashback that he had her nose wide open. She lost her damn job cause of him.
This is definitely too much to handle alone, but I think the way everythings been for her recently she wants to show that she can take care of herself and this baby, without his help.

So many questions left unanswered...and yes I can definitely see him waiting for her to come crawling back to him. Trying to take care of and prepare for a baby is no easy task. She's going to need his support eventually..
And right? If she does go back to him, will he keep and fulfill any of his promises to show her she's more than just the other woman??

Well, it may get hard being that the baby is a newborn but she is going to have to co-parent with Michael. That's his child as much as hers and he needs to help and I know he wants to. He loves children!!!! But she will crack when times get hard for Her she's gonna run to him for help.
The flashback, well, with her losing her job is mostly her fault because she wanted to follow Mike's dumb ass around the damn world and take off more than she was suppose to and it left her unemployed. Smh. But that's what 'love' will do to ya I guess.
Now this meeting, I just hoops it all goes well but I know Michael is going to try to pry his way back in. He never gives up, lol.

I'm hoping her version of independence doesn't mean excluding Michael from the baby's life because they broke things off.
In the same breath you can be independent and not be single and you can be single and not independent. Independence is neither here nor there in this situation.
Why elect to be a single parent if you don't have to be. Both her and Michael have to take equal responsibility in the baby's life. You know what I mean?
It was completely brave of her leaving him and I give her tremendous props for that.
The meeting I'm sure will now include co-parenting aspects.

regardless, I think she has to get herself positioned to be ready for her kid to come. So thinking about work arrangments/childcare/etc is all normal. When you think about it from strictly her persepctive, you don't know what''s about to happen. Yeah you're co parenting, but she's still gotta make a living.
And I definitely don't think Dee would exclude him whatsoever. She's just not that kind of person and she knows what it's like to not have a father in your life. She would never do that to her own child.
I get you totally. And the point of this chapter was to show Dee's reaction to the reality of having a baby. She has no support system. Her own mother called her a slut and her unborn child a bastard, her father is nonexistent in her life, and she can't depend on Mimi and Trai for everything. Probably another reason why she feels this need to get her shit together, as presumptious as it may seem.
And I think she's always felt a tad uncomfortable about the financial situation. Reluctant to take handouts..so I think it will be hard for her to accept help from Michael.
