Yeah, that's sounds crazy doesn't it? However, the dramatic irony is that we know Michael loves children to death, but she will soon find that out. In fact, later on she and the story will explain her the real reason for this fear. Plus, Anton will even become a pivotal piece in the story eventually. I just can't wait to see how this all pans out.
