Actually, they tried to do both. The jumbotron was one of two plans. They were going to use a look-a-like of MJ and use one of MJ's old concerts to show on the jumbotron with a two minute delay and the other plan was to upstage his concert by using figure skater Katarina Witt to host a concert for Bryan Adams on the East side. The jumbotron was actually the second alternative. The concert on the East side was the first. Buuuuut both plans still failed being that the East Germans trespassed anyway and caused chaos with the Stasi so yea. Being that this story is fictional, I don't feel the need to include every little detail that happened with MJ. But believe me, I always do my research when I'm writing although for story reasons, I don't include everything or make things go in the order that they actually occurred on MJ's timeline.
