            I ran outside in my bare feet, freezing, to try and catch up with Michael but he was already in his car, starting it. “Michael please, don’t” I begged holding onto the car. I don’t think he heard me for he sped off without another word. I just stood there, my head in my hands, crying. ‘How could he do this to me; to his children?’ I asked myself. How could I tell them their father just up and left without a word to them. Looking back, he had always said that he’d leave me on a cold day in July; I just never thought the day would come. The sun was coming out now, just barely though.
