The Subway was cold af this morning what i'd give to get back in bed.

Danille thought as she sat down on the cold Brooklyn subway seats 

I don't want no problems today just peace

She had to get on a bus for 3 miles then get dropped off at the corner store and finally take the train station to Medgar Evers colleage Prepitory school. Even the name pisses me off why i gotta be on the other side of town.

I have to admit The school where i live is rough  but i can be just as bad as them But my grades are good as i do say so myself. I started to finally crack a smile when this boy came through the sliding doors he had to be about 5'6 stepping in the train with a long grey trench coat and breif case.

where  is he going on a business trip...Through the subway??! i hope he don't get robbed. 

He walked past me to the other side but no seats were avalible so he came back looking around then he looked in my direction and i finally saw his face carmel skin he was just gorgeous. during this time i stopped paying attenton to the world and didn't realise he was talking to me.

Excuse me miss but is that seat beside you taken?

I still sat there staring Then he waved his hand in my face.

Huh. what were you saying 

Is that seat taken?

No. it's not" i said sliding over giving him more room.

I was cheesing so hard on the inside 

My name is Darryl btw" he said while sticking his hand out.

i grabbed his gloved hand "Danille. 

After talking for a min i found out that he was 17 in his senior year and his goals in life. alot to take in in five min but it was worth it.

"So where are you headed if i may ask?" he opened up his breif case pulling out a long white paper with a list of routes and directions. 

"well i'm suppose to be going to a Medgar Evers Prep School it sounds lame to me but my mother thinks if i stayed at my old school i'd only get into trouble.

"Your lying."

"why would i lie about that it says it right here." he said smiling

I couldn't contain my smile which spread from ear to ear he took notice of this and nudged me.

"what girl?"

"we go to the same school!"

"see now your lying!"

"I am Not i've been going there since the 10th grade"

"really!!? what school did you come from?"  

"Midwood high omg i loved that school..well until all the fights in stuff, it's not that bad though."

He started to shake his head and sit back laughing the whole time.

"what now darryl!"

"Your not gonna believe this if i tell you." 

"Tell me!"

"I JUST transfered from that school i knew you looked familair!"

I started to think and then it hit me He was with the..... i remembered the crew he hung with but not the name what i do remember is they never missed a beat they stayed in the office and on suspension one goes they all go. 

"oh yeah you were with Tip, sky and mini maxx right."

"Yep! i still chill with them from time to time." 

"ya'll had a name it's on the tip of my tounge." I started to think and then erupted into laughter "THE FALCONS!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

He tried talking over my laughter but it over took his light voice. 

"OKAY!! I GET IT. it was a dumb name but we were still cool."

" I doubt it with that name." I held my stomach from all the laughter.

"we were cooler than that crew you were in." 

"correction, i wasn't in a crew they were just my freinds i hung out with."

"mhmm don't try an convince me i know the deal.

Just before i was about to snap back the lady came over the intercome

"Trans central termanal we have come to your destination please watch your step and have a nice day"

We stepped of the train walking up the steps to the cold windy streets i wrapped my scraf back around my neck and mouth to avoid getting sick.

"So.."

"So what?" my voice muffled under the scarf

"where do we go from here." 

I started to give him directions but then he stopped me me laughing.

"No! i mean what happned to you know.. Us."

" well..."

he stopped in front of me waiting for my answer. "well...."   "come on danielle tell me something!"

"there was really never an Us, to began with so..."

"Never?"

"Nope." i said smiling "you always wanted to hang with the boys what's the point a relationship consist of two people not a girl and his boys"

Hs stayed silent after i told him this. 

"I didn't know you felt like that."

"i knew you wouldn't."  We made it to the entrance of the building and i started up the steps.

"Danille!"

"yes darryl?"  i said turning to face him.

'I just Got one question for you..."

"And what is that Darryl Jackson?"  

"you don't have to call my whole name"

"Boy! if you don't get to it." 

"Ever heard of a second chance?" he said with a cheeky smile.

I fake thought for a moment " Doesn't ring a bell" i said while stepping in the doors of the school.

If he wants to try again he will have to come alot stronger than that i'm not as nieve as i once was.

I walked into the school Building leaving Michael Behind and ran into another problem Michelle.

"look who diecided to show up" lookin down at her watch" late ."

I walked past her and she got back in the way.

"what now michelle" 

"Im just trying to look out for you, you asked me to do this !" 

"yeah but not everyday damn give me a break!" 

"Fine!" 

" Can you atleast come down from mom mode i need to talk to you." 

"about what?"

"well i kinda ran into someone on the subway"

"un huh"

" And i didn't know who he was until...." "Michelle!!!!!!"

"HUH??" she said snapping out of her stare

"what are you looking at?" 

she pointed looking like she was about to drool i turned into the direction and saw michael on the other end of her stare, he was walking into the principal's office.

I knocked her hand down and shook her " SNAP OUT OF IT HE'S NOT THAT CUTE!"

"your right..."

I sighed

"he's damn fine!!"

she started to make her way twards the office 

"let me see if he need's any help i am the senior class president"

"You don't even know what grade he's in"

"it doesn't matter" She stopped to look at me " i can date a junior" and she proceeded to walk.

"But i have to tell you---"

He came out of the office and it felt like time stopped. Michelle walked up to him reaching out her hand.

"Hi, My name is michelle ; senior class president,

I rolled my eyes at this attempt

"I see you went into the office, what seems to be the probleam?

He took her hand shaking it then laughing. "well i have yet to get my schedule and i was hoping to, but the principal isn't in his office where is he?

"Oh, making his daily rounds but i can surely help you with this." 

She took his hand leading him to the guidance office.

"Mrs Woodridge, can you assist this student he seems to not have his schedule."

"will do ms. woods" 

she rubbed Darryl's back and started to walk out of the door. 

"thanks he called out"

"no probleam." she flipped her hair "it what i was elected for" 

she walked out the door and i followed behind laughing. 

We walked into Mr Bradshaw (the english teacher) Class, where i saw sabrina held our seats in the front. "Bout time you guy's made it'

"well i was helping someone, this one was just watching me and taking notes" 

"Excuse you that wasn't flirting that was an attempt."

She turned around in her seat. "stop hating i bet he won't forget me" 

"Ladies would you like to teach the class or can i proceed with my job?"

we aplogised for the disruption and as soon as class was quiet there was a knock on the door.

"Please Finish your worksheets and copying notes" 

In walked the principal Mr. Watts he looked angry as usual he whispered in Bradshaw's ear. 

"students it seems that we have a new student" and in walked trouble Darryl. soon as Michelle seen this she quickly applied her lip gloss and eye shadow and girls around the room took notice of him Vultures!

He put his arm around darrly" Please welcome darryl with open arms and help him catch up.

Darryl started to walk down one isle then he saw me and doubled back passing Michelle and sitting behind me all the attention was on our side of the room now.

he hit my back. "Oh look who's in my second period" 

*Lunch*

We were in the usual Meat loaf and Mac&cheese. not as good when you had it for 2weeks in a row. i punched in my number and waited on Michelle and Sabrina to come out. they came and we sat at our usal spot by the window to watch the boys in JROTC work out. But it seems Michelle had her attention on something else.

"what's up with her?" sabrina asked

"she's got her sights set on something more important then the boys outside the window" i said laughing

"whats more important than them" she said staring at michelle.

Just as she said that Michelle got up anw started to walk and i think i have a clue where she might be going.

I saw darrly sitting with some jock's and cheerleaders and soon Michelle was in the picture. they were talking for a min then a hug?!? a very long one i might add. Psshh what do i care we were never together anyway.

"Danille....DANILLE!!!"   "Yeah"    "you've been staring at them for the longest, what's wrong with you"

"I wasn't staring at them"

she gave me a look but i wasn't gonna admit it!

"I wasn't looking at them i swear"

"alright spill it what's up with you and this guy i saw him sit behind you in class earlier." 

"well, he's sorta my ex." 

"sorta?" 

"okay he is but, he never had time for me so i cut him loose....and when i did my mother got me away from my old school so we fell out of touch." 

she sat back taking it all in.

"you know what that means right?"

"what?"

"he's off limits to friends...so you want me to go snatch her up" she eagerly got up out of her seat,

"No girl im not worried about them let him have his fun she's not his type anyway.

"how would you know"

Michelle came back to the table sitting down and proceeding to eat. it was quiet for a moment and she finally spoke.

"I know everything" 

I lifted my head up looking at her 

"what you mean?" 

" DON'T PLAY DUMB WITH ME UGH I CAN't BELIEVE YOU!! YOU LET ME DO ALL THIS CRAP AND THE BOY LIKES YOU!!" 

"I DIDN'T MAKE YOU DO A DAMN THING IT WAS----" "hold up what did you say?"

"He likes you Danille,and if he doesn't want all of this. he must really care about you."

I rolled my eyes again and faked throwing up

"is that what he told you?" 

"he didn't have to i can tell by the way he was talking about you and his old school."

he talkes about me?

"so Danille the question is, Do you like him."  Michelle and Sabrina starred at me waiting for my answer.

"well.....I...Ummm.." 

when it was actually time for me to speak my true feelings i was left speechless i thought i had to answer to myself but now i have to answer to them to....i knew him coming here would be trouble.

I didn't wanna answer them but Michelle Continued to stre me down. Looking away i saw him walking twards me what does he want?

"Hey " he said nudging me "i see you didn't eat your lunch" he started to reach on my tray and i slapped his hand.

"Well if you would give me a chance to eat i will" 

"Greedy share with the man" Sabrina said smiling 

"Thats not a man it's a greedy boy "I said while blocking his hands yet again.

"You can have some of mine Michael" Michelle said sliding her tray over

"Thank you" He  started to eat all her pizza and french fries till it was all gone Then started to look at Sabrina's tray she laughed sliding it closer to her

"Oh no i want mine" 

He got up from our table "yall ain't got nothing for me over here" 

We all looked crazy for a min then started laughing 

"That boy is crazy" I started to eat again till i felt that eyes were on me again, What? I said never looking up. 

"you know what we want do you like him or not" Michelle stated 

"Mhmm" Sabrina chimmed in

I sighed deeply "I still feel something but i don't just love him"

"Ohhhhhhh"they yelled in unison making everyone stare at our table I ducked down covering my head.

"can you guys just stop it" 

They heard no words that came out of my mouth and started to plan out my life literally 

"We have to get you two together"

"yes! IT WOULD BE SO CUTE"

*Gasp*"what if they got married"

I couldn't stop laughing at these gestures and now it was starting to get annoying.

"look you guys i gotta go" They didn't even pay attention to me leaving..I got my stuff and made it out the door without them even noticing .

I decided to go outside before 6th blick began and just breath everything that has been going on is too much for me to handle i want things to go back to how they use to be. 

End of the day

Making my locker rounds walking Michelle and sabrina to there cars i decided to walk home today not because i needed the exersise Just to get away from those to if i would've stayed those girls were gonna talk my head off!

"Danille!" a familiar voice yelled from behind. I didn't really feel like dealing with people right now.

"I know you hear me girl!" I turned around finally and saw Marcus running twards me i cracked a smile.

"Oh, hey i didn't know it was you" i said hugging him.

"you sho'll didn't bother to stop"

'My bad just been a long day"

"what's wrong now? Michelle spray too much perfume? Sabrina sing in your ear again?"

"haha No" i laughed while playfully nudging them. "there trying to play match maker and i ain't having it"

"Match maker?"

"yep"

"with who" he said curiosly 

"nobody"

"it's gotta be somebody if they wanna match you two up, just remember i was here first!"

"Boy stop it"

"Im serious" he said stopping infront of me " I always liked you and as we became more of freinds i didn't wanna ruin that"

"and now you tell me, after all these years..i gotta go"

"it was never the perfect time!" he yelled after me. I kept on walking i had to get on the bus on time anyway

At the train station

I made it to the train and the bus ride helped clear my head. i still couldn't believe after all this time he likes me. if i get one more of these i always liked you things i'll swear its a set up.

Paying my ticket i sat in the back of the train this time no room in the front for me the train is usually packed on fridays anyway glad its not dark yet. i kept getting this feeling like someone was watching me i turned in my seat holding my purse closer to me and watched my sorroundings ugh why didn't i just ride with sabrina!! 

When the ride was over i quickly got off the train and headed home, Still i couldn't shake it. i was just two blocks away from my house if i could just get in and lock up ill be fine. there was still some light out when i got to my door do i didn't have to scramble for my keys But then i heard footsteps approaching from behind......

Fumbling with my keys and hearing the footsteps getting closer was killing me i got my key and a hand came to my shoulder "Ahhh!" i turn around swinging and punching keeping my eyes closed. They grabbed my hands i tried my hardest to get out of there grip."CALM DOWN ITS JUST ME!" darryl spoke. I opened my eyes to see a stupid grin on his face."DARRYL WHAT THE HEL ARE YOU DOING HERE!!"."I was trying to catch up with you earlier but you were talking to some guy." that doesn't give you the right to follow me home and SCARE ME HALF TO DEATH!".Sorry dang, but i do live over here too. I gave him an evil glare and started my way back into the house till i realized he was trying to come in too. "Woah woah Woah! where do you think your going?". Im coming inside" I pushed him back outside refusing this intrusion."c'mon now its cold out here" "AND?!?. "Please dani. studying him for a minute i let him in he slid through the door taking one step into out living room and his eyes widened.

"Yo this house is phat ma." I didn't understand a word he just said but i felt offened for some reaseon " What did you just say?" he gave me a confused look and then he smiled." All i said was your house is nice ha". "why couldn't you just say that at first. I walked past him and started up the stairs and once again he was being a tag-along." OH No Go back and have a seat on the couch or something." But i want a tour of the house" . "well you'll jus have to wait. I started back up the stairs heading to my room to change clothes and get ready to clean and eventually get darryl out. 

Coming back downstairs i went straight to the kitchen for the dishes carefully turning on the sink and getting to it. "so.."soo.."This is all you do wash dishes all dam day and clean up" "If i want to contnue living here...Yes"  "oh". I finished the dishes and went to the laundry room for the vacuum cleaner. "what you fina do now?" "I gotta vacuum the rugs the rooms and then clean the stove" When am i going to get my tour?" "When i finish now move" Pushing him out of the way i vacuumed the living room and wrapped the cord to take it up stairs Darryl follwed behind me for a while and then dissapeared into the kitchen maybe to eat up everything in site oh god. 

Finishing up finally i headed back downstairs to check on darryl "Darryl!" I walked past the kitchen not paying attention until i saw something that made me go back."what are you doing darryl" Cleaning the stove, what does it look like?" well, I hope your doing it right" i tried looking over his shoulders to see progress and he blocked "Im not done yet" I went back to what i was doing to give him some time and finally came back to see him sitting on our counter and the stove was spotless."Okay first Get off the counter and OMG darryl you did a great job" "I know that now how bout that tour" Okay sure why not" He shook his head laughing and followed me up the steps.

"Okay where you wanna start?" Your room" He said with a smirk i noded my head at this" Okay Bathrooms it is" His smile dropped and mine grew bigger I showed him the bathrooms on both ends of the hall" We have total of 4 bathrooms , and 3 bedrooms so one bedroom doesn't have a bathroom" He started to look bored by this time"Get we get on to the rooms mam" I shot him a glare" Fine by me" I showed him the guest bedroom and then my parents room."and that completes our tour please drive home safetly" pushing him past my room and hitting the first step"You never showed me your room" " It's just like the other one's!" " I don't know that" " well i do and thats all that matters!" Starting to push him again he slithered past me and ran twards my room he grabbed the knob and started to shake it"dammit why is your door locked?" I laughed on the inside thanking god that i locked it when i left out the first time. 

He started to think and something came to him he started to reach down in his pockets and he grabbed a bobbi pin. When i noticed it i tackled him from behind "NO!!!" "What is so wrong with your room that you won't let me see it??!" we fell to the ground fighting and the pin flew over by the wall and i crwled fast to grab but he reached out pulling me futher away from it he jumped over me and got it i layed there turning over he wiggled the bobbi pin in the door and walked in. "your room is sooc cute" He walked around my white and red room and looked at my wall of pictures of me and my freinds then Our pictures together I never got a chance to take them down. "aww dani" i felt my stomach go into knots and i turned over on the floor Slowly getting up and walking into the room"what?" "you room is so cute" He poked me and i smacked his hand he was startng to get annoying. " I can't belive you kept these pictures" "Yea i forgot to take them down." i replied dryly. he started to sit on my bed and i stopped him" Use the chai:3r please" "why are you so strict" "cuz thats how you get dips in your bed, just do it" He ignored my wishes and sat down

He jumped a bit and stood "what Tha?, Whats this? he grabbed my diary from under him and started trying to open it. I wasn't paying attention to him until i heard rattling and then a "click" "Dear Diary May 18, 1988 Graduation Day" he read outloud "HEY!! " I snatched my book out of his hands and hid it behind me closing it." over here invading my privacy and stuff" " Im pretty sure nothing big is in that book" " Your right but its mine so no you can't look at it" Truth was i wrote about him majority of the time except for the first page and if he seen it I would die.

I Looked over at the clock (9:30) My Mom is on her way home Shit! "darryl you gotta go!" He got up slowly too slow i pushed him out my door until i heard a "Honk" From outside. I pushed him to the side peaking out my window seeing my mothers car pull into the driveway."who's that?" "My Mom and you gotta get out of here" I started to pace back and fourth and i got an idea "get into the closet!" "what?!" "you heard me go" I started shoving him in and slamming the door behind me "whatever you do michael please don't come out im not suppose to have anyone here this late" "but when can i leave"" In the morning when i do just gotta move fast. The fron door opened down stairs and my mother yelled "Hey dani im home" i ran downstairs nervously. "hey mom" i said not able to sit still it was one of my downfalls if i was hiding something i was very gittery She took notice of this which made me more nervous " you alright baby" yes  mam i sure am ha ha (sigh)" "mhmm well come get you sister out of the car and help me with these bags" "Okay" I headed out the door ahead of her silently praying Darrly stayed quiet. 

my sister was grabbing grocery bags from the backseat as i went out to grab some myself "now did your head get bigger since i last seen you or?" " if my head is big and were siblings then guess what" i said stooping down to her level my six year old sister knew how to push my buttons " nah it skipped me and went straight to you, you were born first duh" she said brushing past me "will yall hurry up i wanna cook before your father gets home" i grabbed the remainder of the bags from the trunk. then it hit me darryl is still in my closet. omg just please let this go smoothly. "dani this stove is spotless what did you do differntly honey" " i uh i used the powder cleaner you told me instead of the spray let it soak and wiped it off" "thats my girl! uh its a shame i gotta cook tonight, otherwise i wouldn't touch it, its so clean" "thank you momma" i took credit for darryls work continuing to unpack the groceries until i heard a thud from upstairs and my heart sank " what was that" my mother asked and kacey came down the steps " something fell in dani's room" " don't worry ill get it, its probably my back pack" " dani i told you make sure you take those heavy books out before you throw them on that bed" " yes momma im sorry ill go get it now " i walked past kacey who was suspicious but i paid her no mind, i locked my door, obviously my books werent in my book bag my mother nagged me enough to remember not to do it, it was darryl falling like a cluts in the closet. i swung the door open whispering and yelling at the same time " what the heck are you doing making all that noise up here your gonna get me killed" "im sorry my feet were starting to hurt so i laid down and one of your stupid shoe boxes fell" Knock Knock " momma said come down stairs "ill be there in a minute" " listen i gotta get you out of here now!" i pulled him out of my closet and opened my window " im not jumping out of your window dani" " what other choice do you have darrly!" you dont have anything i can break my fall on dude ill die " "stop being a big baby, you won't even get a scratch" " thats easy for you to say!" Knock Knock " momma wants to know whats taking so long" " tell her its that time of the month its gonna be a minute" i yelled back and darrly made a gross face "eww" kacey said as i heard her foot steps go down the steps " listen im gonna take you across the hall to the main bathroom you can break your fall with my moms garden " i mean i guess im still gonna fall! " i shooed him toward the door closing my window and locking it i opened my door and looked around hearing my mom and my sister singing along to the radio while she cooked i scurred him across the hall into the bathroom locking it. i slid the bathroom window open he leaned out of it " this is much better than you trying to throw me out of the window onto the drive way" " it wasn't the drive way!" " dani i gotta use the bathroom" " go use the one in your room" " no i wanna use this one its closer!" i rolled my eyes little sibblings i swear, i turned the water on as michael jumped out of the window i leaned out making sure he was good he landed on his feet and stumbled back on to his butt he dusted hisself off and thumbsed me up i shot one back as he scurred off into the night, i clenched my chest in releaf as i heard a knock i turned the water off and opened the door " all that time you were waiting all you had to do was go to your room " why aren't you in your room using the bathroom too?" " because i can go where i please" she stuck her tongue out at me closing the door. at that moment i remembered the bathroom window was open but whatever.
